In
the province of Alberta, the Energy and Utilities Board (EUB)
regulates the safe, responsible, and efficient development of
Alberta's energy resources: oil, natural gas, oil sands, coal,
and electrical energy; and the pipelines and transmission lines
to move the resources to market. The EUB is an
independent, quasi-judicial agency of the Government
of Alberta.
The
EUB has clear guidelines outlined in their Noise Control
Directive (ID-99) on regulating industry noise. Violation
of the noise requirements in this directive constitutes a major
noncompliance event. In the event of a major noncompliance
event the EUB would have the authority to temporarily suspend
full or partial operations at the company in
question.
The EUB also has the authority to remove existing or potential
impact/hazard, or threat to conservation. Suspension
remains in effect until compliance is achieved and the
likelihood of reoccurrence is reduced/eliminated. |

To find out more about the noise regulations that may exist in your
neighborhood, visit the Noise Pollution Clearinghouse Law Library website. It includes
proposed noise legislation and existing noise laws from federal,
state, and municipal sources.
HFP understands the seriousness of regulatory compliance and can
provide all energy related industries with the necessary
acoustical expertise and solutions to comfortably meet the EUB
noise requirements.
